Turn off your laptop’s LCD easily

Sometimes you may want to run a task on your laptop while you are on the road or away from a power source. Some of these tasks, like playing music or converting a video file, do not really require you to have the LCD screen on for that time. The reason why it makes sense to turn off the LCD screen of the laptop is to save power doing so. With the screen turned off, your laptop gets some extra juice that you may need to complete the task, or that you may benefit from after you have completed the task.

Many laptops do not come with a switch or options to turn of the LCD screen. Thankfully though there is software which can provide you with that feature. One of the program’s that you may want to use for the task is Turn Off LCD, a free program for the Windows operating system.

All you need to do is download the program from the developer website, and extract it on your system. Once done, all you need to do is click on the extracted file to turn off the monitor of the system.

I personally would recommend to add a shortcut to the Windows desktop to access the program’s functionality more easily. For that, you only need to right-click on the file and select Create Shortcut from the context menu. The shortcut is created in the same directory, and you need to move it to the desktop to make it available there.

Whenever you want to turn off the screen of your laptop, all you need to do is click on that shortcut to do that. Remember that you need to keep the program in its original folder.
