Installing themes under Windows 7 is easy as pie. Just download the themes from the official website, and double-click on them after the download has finished. The theme will automatically be made the computer’s default theme.

Valentine theme

This Windows 7 theme is the most obvious choice. It offers a selection of lacy hearts in pink, white, red and black that “bring a note of Valentine romance to your desktop”.

The theme features four different backgrounds and a custom color and sound scheme. You can rotate the desktop backgrounds with a click on the desktop and the selection of next desktop background from the context menu.

Lovebirds

Lovebirds is another theme for the Windows 7 operating system. It is still pretty girly if you ask me, with colors in the red and pink spectrum.

It still looks pretty awesome, and you get your custom color scheme and sound scheme as well. This particular theme features five different wallpaper images that are rotated automatically by default.

Roses

Do you like roses? If you do, the roses theme might appeal to you more. It consists of photos instead of drawings, which is the core difference to the themes above.

The roses theme offers ten different wallpaper photos, a custom color scheme and the same custom sound scheme as the Lovebirds theme.

Extracting wallpapers

If you are using another operating system, you cannot double-click the theme to install it. Your only option is to extract the contents of the theme to get access to the wallpaper images. The easiest way to do that is to use a program like 7-zip for the job. It is a free program that you can download from this address.

Jamendo at the time of writing is hosting more than 339,000 music tracks and 54,000 music albums on their servers that anyone can listen to or download. Just follow the link posted above to visit the main site. you can click on Music in the top bar, click on top 100 to be taken to the top tracks of the week or select one of the main genres posted on the main page.

A click on the play button, available next to each album or song, launches a smaller new window with playback information and controls.

You can use the controls and playlist to play all or only select songs. A download button is available (on the right of the Twitter button) to download the selected track to your computer. You can alternatively click on an artist’s or band’s name to be taken to a page that lists all albums by that artist. Play and download buttons are available here as well. The download will download the full album with all music tracks to the computer.

Artists use Jamendo to increase their popularity. One of the more interesting concepts of the site is the ability to donate directly to artists. This is a totally different concept from the traditional commercial music distribution concept.

What I personally like about Jamendo are a few things. First that you can listen to and download music for free. Then that you can donate directly to bands and artists and be sure that they receive the major share of the donation. That’s totally different from buying a commercial music CD where artists earn next to nothing from.
