Facebook Want to See who views Your Facebook Profile Scam

Scams are nothing new on Facebook. Barely a day goes by that you do not see a new or old scam posted in one of your friend’s comments. The latest scam – once again – tries to lure users into the trap by promising them to reveal which Facebook users and friends have been visiting their profile on the social networking site.

It needs to be noted right away that there is no functionality available, not native or through apps, that will tell you who is visiting your profile. Lets take a look what the message reads:

I KNOW WHEN YOU LOOK AT MY PROFILE USING THIS: http://bit.ly/

NEW! See who views your profile!

Do you want to know who is looking at your photos right now? Find out who looks at your profile the most and what they look at!

There is also a second variant, and maybe even more around.

CLICK HERE TO SEE WHO IS STALKING YOU: http://bit.ly

We have removed part of the url so that no one visits those scam sites accidentally.

When you click on either link you are taken through a series of redirects until you land on a fake Facebook page where it tries to download and install an extension automatically. This works in Google Chrome and Firefox.

Two user comments are displayed at the bottom of the screen which try to make the page look legit. You will however notice that they are displayed as an image.

It is also interesting to note that the same image has been used in a scam in July of this year as you can see here on this blog post. (Thanks to Avira for the initial discovery)
